Charissa is an artist who lives in rural New Haven. She works mainly in pencil, pen, oils, and watercolors. She creates and sells many oil paintings, custom portraits, does custom decorative painting and murals among other things. She has illustrated the children’s “D. Mouse” book series, and has created her own line of flower fairy drawings which have been made into cards and used as illustrations and logos. Her work is on display locally at the Riverfront Cultural Society Lounge, and Art Works on Main in Owensville. She has studied privately under several artists and art instructors, including working for two years under Julie Wiegand at Lyon School Studio. She has sold and displayed work in shows, fairs and galleries both locally and across the nation. She began teaching art in her early twenties, offering workshops and classes to home school groups, ladies groups, and teaching privately from her home studio. She has taught for three years at Kay’s Studio in Sullivan, four years at Gateway Center for the Arts in Washington, and offers both private lessons and group lessons out of her own studio. Her students have won awards both in local shows and fairs, and national competitions.
